Caravan vs TripIt
TripIt turns confirmation emails into an itinerary: forward a booking and it lands on your travel timeline, with Pro adding flight alerts and seat tracking. Caravan is aimed at the group version of the problem — one shared workspace where the plan, the money and the to-do list sit together. They cover different halves of a trip.

Pick TripIt if…
- You fly often and want the itinerary assembled for you — forward a confirmation and it is on the timeline without any typing.
- Live flight alerts, gate changes and delay warnings are the feature you actually open a travel app for.
- You travel for work or on your own, where there is nothing to split and nobody to coordinate with.
Pick Caravan if…
- Several people are planning together and the plan keeps changing before anything is booked.
- You want shared expenses, assignable tasks and group polls attached to the trip instead of spread across three apps.
- You need control over who can edit and who can invite, through host, manager and member roles.
Questions people ask
Does Caravan import bookings from my email?
No. Caravan does not read your inbox. Flights, stays and key dates are entered by the group, and the AI assistant can draft options that you confirm before anything is saved. If automatic import is the feature you want most, TripIt is built for exactly that.
Is Caravan a TripIt alternative for group trips?
For the coordination half, yes: shared expenses, assignable tasks, polls and role-based sharing are things TripIt is not designed to cover. For automatic itinerary parsing and live flight alerts, it is not a replacement.
Can Caravan send my trip to my calendar?
Yes. Every trip exports as an .ics download, and you can mint a subscription URL that Google, Apple or Outlook Calendar polls so the calendar tracks later edits. The public feed leaves out booking references and can be revoked at any time.
